We let children get familiar with the sights and sounds of the office. They can meet our staff and our dentist in 87109. Parents may ask questions and get their concerns addressed. We provide tips and education on how to care for your child’s teeth and gums. Some children will let us clean and examine their teeth on the first visit! Our goal is to make it a positive experience with lots of praise. Kids love our mascot Rex and treasure chest.

We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas). Nitrous is administered by a nose piece that fits over the nose. It works by breathing it in. Once, the nitrous is turned off it quickly exits the body. If patients cannot breath through their nose or cannot tolerate the rubber nose piece then we don’t continue to try it to use it.

We do not restrain children by using a papoose board. If parents wish to comfort their child by holding their hands that is ok with us. We use positive reinforcement and explain what we are doing to the child.

Absolutely! We encourage parents to come back if they want to.

Parents who wish to sedate their children and have them “sleep” for dental work or children who are uncooperative may be referred to a pedodontist. A pedodontist is a dentist who only see’s children. We know you are very busy, and we try to make your life as easy as possible. We try to schedule the entire family in one office but sometimes that is not always feasible. Some kids may only need to see a pedodontist until they get acclimated to a dental office.

As all parents know, children do not sit still for along period of time. If a child has multiple teeth in different areas of the mouth that need treatment we will split the treatment into multiple appointments.
